The changing of seasons brings a fresh start to many of us. With summer being so close, we've been making lots of changes in our home. Believe it or not, spring can bring more than just allergies :) You wouldn't know that it wasn't technically summer be the activity going on at my house. We have been in the sun more in the past month than we have in a long, long time. We are becoming more active and trying to get our boys moving more. We are trying to teach them the importance of staying active. There has been much of this
...and this
going on, which has been lots of fun. Our oldest, Josh, is starting kindergarten in the fall (*tear*), and to help the transition, we've been walking to the elementary school he'll be attending and playing at their amazing playground and shooting hoops there. My husband bought a basketball and we have a lot of fun doing that. It really wears out the kids fast! A great added bonus this weekend was the family we met while playing there. They have a 5 year old starting kindergarten there this fall as well, and our boys got along great! Healthy body, healthy mind. The element of play is so important to a child's well being.
While starting new habits, I also have a confession; I am switching trainers for a small time. I love my Bob, but I'm trying something new with my husband. I recently acquired the Insanity program, and I'm trying it out for the next 8 weeks. I'm still HarperGirl, and NOTHING on this earth will change that, but I think it's good to try new things every now and then too. So I will let you all know how I do with this program. My husband and I are doing it together, and we are taking measurements and before/after pics today. I'm on day 2 right now, and it was a surprisingly good workout!
I'm also tracking my calories again because I'm pretty sure I'm not eating enough. Sometimes when you work out 5-6 days a week, you need to take in more calories to make sure you don't go into starvation mode. My body is used to a certain amount of food, so changing this up is really difficult for me. I was eating around 1200 calories while losing weight, and now I need to eat about 1500-1700. GOOD calories only, no bad ones. So I'm really working on that right now. To help with this, I have this little gem headed my way this week:
It's a Body Media arm band, and it will help me track my progress and how much I need to eat every day. It will hold me accountable and help me reach my calorie goals! I cannot wait to get this!
It is the summer of new adventures for my family. I can't wait to share them all with you!

I am your newest follower, and I am in the process of loosing weight. It has not been easy for me, I have been going at it for a year and a half and have lost 22 lbs. I still have 13lbs to go but them seem like they do not want to go anywhere. When you were loosing weight you mentioned you were eating around 1200 calories was that hard to do? what did you eat for those calories. I think that is what I need to do in order to break this and continue loosing the weight. I just find it hard to eat only 1200 how did you do it?
ReplyDeleteI broke my calories up and spread them out throughout the day. I had about 150 for breakfast, 100 for mid-morning snack, 250 for lunch, 100 mid-afternoon snack, 500 for dinner and 100 for after dinner treat. I was on weight watchers online for recipies. I ate a lot of lean protiens and greens. There are all kinds of ways to do this, but that is how I did it. And of course, I pushed water all day long too!
DeleteI'm doing insanity too! Im on the second four weeks, and have lost 20Ibs so far. I feel so strong! Its a great way to tone your muscles without looking overly bulky. Im sore a lot of the time though, but it is a good sore!
ReplyDeleteHave fun with insanity, and don't forget to DIG DEEPER!
